Women and Justice - Lunch time panel event

Arnold Bloch Leibler, together with the Human Rights Law Centre and the Law and Advocacy Centre for Women, was delighted to celebrate International Women’s Day 2017 with a free lunch time panel event on women and justice.

An audio recording of the speech delivered by Marcia Neave AO, a former chair of the Royal Commission into Family Violence and former Judge of the Court of Appeal and of the Supreme Court of Victoria, is now available:

Date: Thursday 9 March 2017

The keynote address was followed by a Q and A session facilitated by the HRLC’s Adrianne Walters featuring Meena Singh, the Associate Director of Aboriginal Services at Victoria Legal Aid and Jill Prior, the Principal Legal Officer at LACW.

The speakers addressed issues facing women in the criminal justice system today with a particular focus on the intersection between violence against women and the rapidly rising rate of women in prison.
