Event details
Our Director of Legal Advocacy, Daniel Webb, has returned this week from Papua New Guinea where he was assisting Amnesty International in the PNG National Court inquiry into the Manus detention centre.
We hope you can join us next Wednesday evening, 16 April for a briefing and public discussion about the conditions inside the Manus detention centre, the importance and power of the Court’s inquiry and, of course, the many pitfalls of Australia’s asylum seeker policies.
The panel discussion and public question and answer session, facilitated by the HRLC's Rachel Ball, will feature:
Daniel Webb, HRLC’s Director of Legal Advocacy
Graeme McGregor, Refugee Campaign Coordinator for Amnesty International Australia
Ben Kiely, Senior Associate, King & Wood Mallesons, who is providing pro bono assistance to Amnesty and HRLC regarding the inquiry
Liam Fox, ABC Journalist, posted in PNG for 5 years. Inspected Manus detention centre as part of the National Court's inquiry.
SOLD OUT
We are hoping that a audio/video recording will be available here after the event and are also considering holding similar events in Sydney and Brisbane.
