Professor Robynne Quiggin is the Human Rights Law Centre new Chair
We’re thrilled to announce that Professor Robynne Quiggin is the new Chair of the Human Rights Law Centre board, taking over from the Honourable Cathy Branson AC QC, who has decided to step down after eight years.
Robynne is a member of the Wiradjuri nation of central western New South Wales. She has lived and worked in Sydney as a solicitor, researcher, lecturer, consultant and public servant with a focus on legal, compliance and policy areas affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples including human rights, financial inclusion, governance, the arts and heritage.
Robynne was Deputy Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission and has a long standing commitment to human rights. She has participated in international human rights and biodiversity forums and published on the role of rights in relation to the economic, cultural, artistic and scientific work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. She is currently Associate Dean (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement) at UTS Law Faculty and Business School and Chair of the NSW Aboriginal Housing Office.
Cathy Branson joined the Human Rights Law Centre’s board in 2013 and served as Chair since 2016. Cathy was previously a judge of the Federal Court of Australia and President of the Australian Human Rights Commission amongst a range of other influential roles.
