Lauren Zanetti - Senior Lawyer


Lauren joined the Human Rights Law Centre in 2024 as a Senior Lawyer in the Corporate Accountability team. Lauren’s focus is on advancing the business and human rights legislative and policy landscape in Australia, with a particular emphasis on addressing modern slavery risk in business operations and supply chains and promoting corporate human rights due diligence.

Prior to joining the Human Rights Law Centre in 2024 Lauren was an Associate Director at a specialist business and human rights consultancy, where she advised businesses on the identification and management of human rights risks (including modern slavery) in line with international human rights standards. Lauren has previously worked as a Senior Lawyer at Clayton Utz and at the Australian Human Rights Commission, leading the Commission’s policy work on business and human rights. In her work at the Commission, Lauren represented the Commission on the Government’s National Roundtable on Human Trafficking and Slavery, undertook training and awareness raising for business on human rights and led the development of thought leadership reports, including sector-specific guides on responding effectively to modern slavery risks.

Lauren’s work is informed by her Masters of Laws from the University of Melbourne focusing on human rights. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland. Lauren is a member of the Australian Sustainable Finance Institute’s Taxonomy Technical Expert Group and was previously Co-Chair of the Business and Human Rights Subcommittee for Australian Lawyers For Human Rights.
