Joint submission to UN Human Rights Council President regarding statement on COVID-19
The President of the UN Human Rights Council is consulting on a statement to be made to the Council on the human rights implications of COVID-19. The Human Rights Law Centre joined 14 international NGOs to recommend the statement call on governments to:
have independent reviews and sunset clauses for emergency measures;
recognise the importance of civil society in COVID-19 response and recovery;
cover LGBTQI people, people affected by poverty, victims of slavery; and other recommendations.
